Slow Down. Connect to Your Food

Meditation has become a wide spread wellness practice helping us to slow down, reconnect and be more at peace with ourselves in our daily lives. But while most of us make time for meditation and the occasional bout of exercise, our relationship with food and how we eat still needs some work!

 With more than 40% of office workers in the UK opting to eat at their desks when lunchtime rolls around, there is growing evidence that multitasking whilst eating can lead to weight gain, reduction in activity, socialisation issues, Vitamin D deficiency and more.

Steph Sheahan a food experience designer and founder of Rituals of Plate which focuses on slow eating and embodiment of food believes that slowing down a naturally sensory daily activity like eating can greatly inspire a more embodied and joyful life. Her focus is on finding new ways to interact with food in a more meaningful, mindful and creative way.

As part of the Slow Food movement or Food as meditation you are encouraged to honour seasonal, local, organic and wild produce  right the way up to the end; taking the time to cook mindfully (preparing lunch the night before) , taste fully (not while checking your emails) and truly nourish yourself, your family and your community( out of the office!)
